Hydrogen: Not Just For Exploding Zeppelins Anymore

I have been saying it for years. Out of all the new fuel alternatives popping up Hydrogen is the best choice. Why do you say, because Hydrogen can be produce from water the one substance on this planet of which we have an abundance. Also because we’re not in any fear of running out of water on this planet within next few million years. Oh yeah and did I mention the fact that Hydrogen powered vehicles create zero emissions.

I have been telling my wife for the last few years that I thought one of the biggest pushes in automobile technology in the next 10 years would come from the Hydrogen powered car. Well according to this article and this one an Israeli company called Engineuity has made my dream a reality with a car that can produce its own Hydrogen internally using coils of Magnesium and Aluminum. So now the biggest technical hurdle for adopting Hydrogen as an automobile fuel source has just been overcome. For those of you wondering the biggest strike against Hydrogen to date has been its public appearance as a highly volatile substance so there have been concerns with regards to transporting and storing this potential fuel source. Now this is not a problem considering the car uses water accompanied by Magnesium and Aluminum coils which create the required Hydrogen internal to the vehicle. My guess is that the oil companies are going to be up in arms in a few years if this technology hits the U.S. in full commercial production.

God I love Science! Thank you Mr. T-Rex but I think we have exploited your liquefied remains quite long enough. Woohoo we may even put a few oil executives out of business while simultaneously getting to retain our remaining ozone layer. Now that’s what I call killing two dinosaurs with one Hydrogen powered car!

Maisiscast

So my first podcast is online and ready to go. Techincally it is my second since my first was a 3 minute short that I created with my new iTalk. If you listen to both you will be able to hear the vast difference in audio quality. My guess is I will probably only be using the iTalk for onsite interviews.

This first podcast is a collection of the three most frequently asked questions I get from people when they find out that my proffession requires me to work with computers and communications equipment as an Information Technology Manager. I hope you will tune in and enjoy this first of what I hope will be many future podcasts.

Sprint PCS: Nurturing Customer Dissatisfaction

So just in case my personnel hatred and condemnation of Sprint was not enough for anyone or my previous rants in your presence about how crappy they were did not turn your stomach. Well here is one more reason for me to hate Sprint and possibly another chance for you to hurl.

Now, I will admit it I am an avid Sprint hater and I do everything I can to convince as many people as possible to leave their network and go to any other carrier. Preferably I would suggest a carrier that has a GSM network such as Cingular, Verizon or T-Mobile. Personally, I use Cingular and with the merger Cingular and AT&T Wireless I do believe this now makes them the biggest ant hill out there in terms of serviceable wireless coverage area.

So, I have been harping on Larry for several years now telling him he should leave Sprint PCS for a better wireless carrier like one of the ones above. Normally when I preach and preach on something to someone while repeatedly being ignored I would most likely be an ass when something bad happens and just say you know what you got what you asked for. However, when that something comes from Sprint, it costs you $400 and you’re family I tend to be a little more sympathetic to something like Larry's plight. Now, don’t get me wrong I still laughed my ass off at Larry’s blog post. I hate Sprint but I love irony.

Sprint has been behind the times, for a while refusing to upgrade their networks and when they did finally do a 360 on the upgrade decision they moved forward too slowly. Although, I will say that there are some decent reviews coming out with regards to their new EVDO stuff.

So, now that Larry, Karla and Ashlei are all finally off Sprint that just leaves my sister-in-law and her husband. Let the harassment, begin!!!

Hrm... I feel like I should be getting paid by some sort of anti-Sprint lobbyist group.... Nah, I'll do this crap for free!!!!

Blog Spamming Run Amok

Yes, I know it may annoy some in the future but I cannot help it. I am no longer allowing anonymous posting here at "The Maisis Outlet." The Blog spammers are ruining it for everyone. I cannot stand that crap. I actually first heard about the problem for the first time last week when listening to a podcast of TWiT or "This Week in Tech" with Leo Laporte and a group of the old Screen Savers gang from the former TechTV. This of course was before the dark times, before G4 and the take over that brought us G4-TechTV. The take over that destroyed any hope of refuge for those in search of true quality geek television. Anyway, I digress! So, I had only heard of this blog spam problem for the first time last week and now I am fighting the problem here as well. I mean I am not really for sure what my starting a Podcast has to do with someone selling viagra but... . So as you can see I had to remove anonymous posting in order to make the problem go away.

Blog Spamming is evidently become a major issue and is requiring blog administrators to cut out the anonymous posting capabilities all over the net. Make sure you do some reading and protect your blog. The last thing you need is to have someone blog spamming lude comments to your blog that get you black flag by one of those companies that provide customer content filtering on the web. You know, those companies that block customer access to site deemed by them to contain indecent material.

Podcasting: Maisis Be Thy Name!!!!!!

Well, I have gone and done it. I have reserved me a spot over at AudioBlog to store my future Podcasts and I ordered my iTalk for the iPod so that I can record spots for my new Podcast during my 1hr each way drive to and from work.

Currently I am planning to use Audacity to do my audio editing. While my use of this software may draw serious laughs from some like Larry ;) the Grand Wizard of audio mixing. I who do not weild any great skills of cunning or magic in this area find it much easier to rely on software that is easy to use.

What's the format going to be you may be asking? Well, the idea is... what? Did you actually think I was going to give it up that easy? I am keeping the show concept under wraps for now until I am well into the post production process of episode 1. I will let you know though that it will be eclectic and it will contain many categories... hrm... sneaky ones aren't you?! I'm not telling! ;)

Stay tuned here for more details... I am sure I'll let a few things slip between now and the first episode's release.
